Nike KD Peanut Butter & Jelly

The KD 6 Peanut Butter & Jelly is a colorway you can’t forget. Released on October 19th, 2013. This sneaker is constructed with an all-over black and gold upper, and outsole. The golden leather stretches from the inner section of the shoe and across to the heel of the shoe. The inner section of the shoe is also paired with a black leather that houses a golden Nike check. As you move further up the sneaker, you’ll see that both the shoe laces and the tongue are both black. The upper also has hints of purple in the sock liner and on the Nike Check. But an interesting detail about the Nike check is that it’s in the shape of smeared Jelly. The midsole of the sneaker is painted in an all gold with black teeth like markings near the front of the shoe. While the heel of the outsole houses an air bubble. Taking a look at the outsole of the sneaker, you’ll see a very detailed grip pattern in gold, black, and purple. This outsole also houses the KD logo at the heel of the sneaker. The creative design behind this sneaker came from KD himself. KD loves Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwiches. This was one of KD's favorite snacks as a kid after coming home from school. This seeded the idea of the Peanut Butter & Jelly colorway. Another detail that is significant about the KD 6’s is the origin of the outsole design. Nike and KD came together and decided to use the designs of the gears of a watch. The idea came from KD mentioning that each individual gear in a watch has extreme importance towards its function.
